The only thing Honest about them is they are Honest-ly the worst. They care more about paying their employees then fixing the issue. We had an overheating issue and they suggested everything except a new radiator. Now they are suggesting a patch to a radiator instead of installing a new radiator. A new radiator costs 100 plus labor. They are suggesting a patch for 175 labor on a 2 dollar part which is more then half the cost of a new one and labor installed. We have already spent more then 700 on repairs for this issue. You make the decision this is just an option.
Jose, It is always regretful when there is a misunderstanding between us and our customers as is the case here. Unfortunately since we dealt directly with your girlfriend on her car repairs you were not in the loop from the beginning and perhaps that’s why there is some confusion. To clarify, your girlfriend brought us her vehicle for an overheating issue. We immediately identified a leaking water pump and as is our policy, we took her to her vehicle and showed her the leaking water pump so she could see for herself. We gave her our diagnosis and proposed a plan for repairing her issue. Since there were no visual cracks or any kind of leakage in her radiator at that time she was not sold a radiator; we do not sell parts for a vehicle that are not needed. A thermostat however was sold to her as a precautionary measure because of the original overheating issue. She agreed to the repairs and upon completion the vehicle had no further leaks. Almost two weeks later your girlfriend called stating that she had noticed a drip under her Jeep. We got her in as quickly as possible, ran a leak test and traced a leak back to one of six freeze plugs and radiator that was not there previously. We recommended a full radiator replacement however she asked about patching the radiator to save some money. We explained that we could patch it but that it would not be warranted because we cannot guarantee that the patch would hold after being exposed to the temperature changes that the radiator is exposed to. Per her request, she was given an estimate for a radiator patch & necessary fluids ($103.00) along with a freeze plug replacement ($175) for the one that was leaking. During our conversation we also went over how these parts were not leaking 10 days earlier when the vehicle had a water pump leak and overheated. As explained to her that especially in Houston’s summertime traffic, now that your coolant system is back up to full operating pressures with the fixed water pump these type residual problems can arise; new parts working at proper capacity can put extra pressure on older parts causing failures down the line. We talked about the types of materials that these parts are made out of and how they can be affected by normal high temps and especially the higher temps reached with the leaking water pump. Not what a customer wants to hear nor what we want to tell a customer, but no one can predict how plastic and thin metal is going to react in the future after being exposed to extreme temperature conditions caused by the overheating problem. All we could do was address the leaks that are present at the time of service. Overselling anything more based on what “maybe” could happen would be dishonest, and that’s not how we do business.
